Playing with the Past: Paint “Bayer” Number
Each Aspen Historical Society offers the Playing with the Past series for young children and their parents/guardians to explore history through hands-on activities and stories. The program is a popular activity for school groups and families, both visitors and locals from around the Roaring Fork Valley. Held on Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays, weekly themes and activities include Butter Making, Candle Making, Beading and Native Storytelling, and Potato Branding. This year, in honor of the Bauhaus 100: Aspen centennial celebrations, the first week featured a special program called Paint “Bayer” Number. Following a brief introduction, the kids used finger paints and crayons to recreate one of Herbert Bayer’s works of art!
Many thanks to our young participants and their guardians! Thanks also to Aspen Valley Hospital whose generous underwriting enables AHS to provide this program is provided for free.
