    Bauhaus 3D Printer Workshop

    Take home a Herbert Bayer Bauhaus inspired 3D print. In a one hour session you can learn how to use the Pitkin County Library’s 3D printer and about the influence the Bauhaus and Herbert Bayer had on our culture and community. Shannon Foster will available on the 4th Friday of every month from 12-4:00 in our Maker Space lab to guide you through this process.     Bauhaus Costume Workshop

    Red Brick Center for the Arts

    Location: Red Brick Center for the Arts Times: 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

    Come join us to create your own fantastical costume to wear to the Bauhaus Ball at the Wheeler Opera House. The Bauhaus school known for their minimalist design, also put on fabulous costume parties in the 1920’s. Not restrained in modernist fashion, Bauhaus costumes were flamboyant, sculptural and truly works of art.

    Art Educator and fashion designer, Mirjam Rosner will help participants create a costume to wear to the ball. Participants can take 1 class or multiple classes allowing for more creation time and instruction. Basic supplies in the Bauhaus colors will be provided. Students are encouraged to bring fabric, materials and ornamentation that they would like to specifically use on their costume. check out art educator and fashion designer, Mirjam Rosner pinterest board for inspiration.

    Mark your calendars the Bauhaus Ball will be at the Wheeler Opera House, Aspen, CO on Thursday, June 6th

    Costume workshops will run May 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th from 5:30PM – 7:30PM. Cost is $35 per class.

    Bauhaus Bonanza: Children's Workshop

    The 100th Anniversary of the Bauhaus is one of the great cultural events of 2019. In this workshop, we celebrate the Bauhaus design school from Germany and become inspired by Bauhaus art and ideas. We discover the great artists who helped define Bauhaus principles, such as Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, Oskar Schlemmer and Herbert Bayer, who later in his career had an influential impact on Aspen, Colorado. Students use a wide range of artistic mediums and engage in processes integral to the Bauhaus such as drawing, collage, graphic design, color theory and more! Students create wildly creative 2-D and 3-D works of art that celebrate 100 years of Bauhaus.

    Families and school groups are invited to explore the legacy of the Bauhaus in Aspen with a kid-friendly art project and stories led by the AHS Education staff. In honor of the new “bayer & bauhaus” exhibit at the Wheeler/Stallard Museum and the community-wide Bauhaus 100: Aspen celebrations, this special Playing with the Past program invites kids to create their own version of a Herbert Bayer piece featuring bold colors and geometric shapes that are perfect for even the youngest artists.

    Teen Design Studio: Bauhaus Challenge

    Aspen Art Museum

    Location: Aspen Art Museum Times: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

    Design and build for a better world in this collaborative project-based workshop with a special focus on Bauhaus-inspired design. We’ll work to create a design solution that integrates the environment with daily needs. Teens will unveil their projects at an art show for friends and family at the end of the week. Taught by Pamela Rice, Associate Professor of Architecture at SUNY Orange, and Heike Hanada, architect of the new Bauhaus Museum in Weimar.

    Ages 12-14.
